i came home from the market today with a bag of peaches. as i was unpacking and placing them in the fruit bowl i held one up and showed it to jordan. it was so pretty, had leaves and was bigger than the rest. she grabbed it, my mom walked by and asked her if she could balance it on her head and… it sparked an idea for photos. of course it did, that is just the way things happen in my brain. so the day carries on, i think about this peach all day long. we run some errands, i buy some amazing frye shoes i have been loving for a long time… the kids get their hair cut and we finally get home at 5:45. i race to make dinner… still thinking about the “peach on jordan’s head photoshoot” and realize that we are running out of time. i have tennis lessons at 7 we still need to eat, i still need to make dinner… and i am the most impatient person ever. so i have to take photos right away, i can’t wait until tomorrow. so we eat, i am watching the clock, we race outside and i have about 8 minutes. i decide to make my task slightly harder than i should and take one lens. my manual 50 1.2. i leave it at 1.2 and i try and try and try and shoot at moving targets. i have this vision. my kids are not working with me. i have 2 minutes left and still nothing. i have about 30 images all blurry. i start to think my lens is malfunctioning. then i stop. breath. quit. go to tennis and have the most amazing time. did i mention i bought a new tennis skirt tonight? its cute. it made me play better. anyway… here are my images. my 8 minute session with my very adorable children, trying their best to humor me. i love them. i love that they still try. and i love my 50 1.2 lens. it truly is awesome.
it all started with a peach
August 12, 2010 - 5:02 am - :-) You're funny and I'm impatient too! The bokeh is ridiculous on the shots of your son. Little swirling circles everywhere. Very magical. And dontcha love when fruit has the leaves on? I found some amazing tangerines in the winter and I asked the check out girl very politely to "be extra careful" when weighing them. She thought I was nuts but then I explained why and how I wanted to photograph them! http://bellinipics.com/blog/archives/1067
August 12, 2010 - 8:25 am - I am so much like you it's silly. My brain gets something in my head and I can't rest till I take the shot :). and I'm constantly cramming in these little just for fun idea shoots throughout the day.. frustrating sometimes.. haha but the end result is so rewarding! LOVE peaches ;)
August 12, 2010 - 8:34 am - So creative! Manual focus impresses me to no end and the bokeh in the bow and arrow shots is beyond incredible!
August 12, 2010 - 9:16 am - These are fan-ta-bu-lous! Gimme that 1.2 lens! [but moving targets at 1.2 is pretty darn exceptional!]
August 13, 2010 - 1:44 pm - Spectacular. I testament to your brilliance with a camera! What a wonderful story.
August 13, 2010 - 11:13 pm - you amaze me.
