love and buttermilk

its valentines day, its not a holiday that have a lot of expectations of.  but i do love.  i love a lot and love a lot of people. i have passion for a lot of things and a lot of people. i did not want to wake up to a lot of gifts or a rose or plans of a romantic dinner on a day where its hard to get reservations and restaurants are full. what i wanted i received. i received more than i could have wanted. i woke up after the rest of my family. i found three tiny valentines on the counter for me. two homemade ones from my children and a tiny pokeman one from my husband (?) it made me smile. i then made us all buttermilk pancakes with blueberries in them. i watched my son put another homemade valentines in his back pocket and deliver two beautiful heart shaped pancakes to my mom downstairs. he was so darn cute i could just eat him up! i heard giggles coming from downstairs and then we all ate our pancakes and were happy. we jumped into the car, went to the swimming pool and i watched the kids slide down the slide, dive off the diving board and play. it was love, i was in love, especially with my husband. i remembered the first valentines day we spent together. we were supposed to go for lunch. he first went for a run in the backcountry with a friend. he parked in the wrong spot and his truck got towed and he called me to come pick him up, i was all dressed up for our date. we had only known each other  three weeks. so i picked him up, took him to his truck at the tow yard and by the time we paid the bill and drove off in our separate cars our day was almost gone. he had to work nightshift so we said good bye. i am sure he was stressed on our first valentines together. thinking somehow he screwed up. but it was life. it was foreshadowing to the life we have and who i married and i really wouldn’t have it any other way. we were engaged one month later and married two months later and happy. we have the most amazing home and we are so proud of our family. we spent the entire weekend together and it truly was the most perfect valentines gift i could have had. yesterday jacob and jordan took a few images of tim and i as we ran through beacon hill park. so here are my two favorites. these were taken between a vicious pine cone fight that i have to say jacob won!

and a few other random images from our weekend. some homemade chocolates from the same wonderful shop i purchased the salt from, and some beautiful buttermilk in a glass jug that we made our  pancakes with. i hope your family had a wonderful weekend as well. xoxo
